Curriculum & Instruction

Vision: “Glendive Public Schools, Excellence in Education.”

Glendive Public Schools is committed to providing a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum so that all students learn at high levels. A Guaranteed Curriculum is one that ensures that each student has access to effective teachers as well as access to the same content, knowledge and skills. A Viable Curriculum ensures that students have been allowed enough time to learn the guaranteed curriculum.

Glendive Public Schools is in the process of defining a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum through collaboration and the use of the Ainsworth Model. Our teams have identified Power Standards for all grade levels and content areas, and we are currently working on unpacking these standards into essential skills. (You can view the identified Power Standards by clicking on the sub-page navigation links.) These essential skills represent what all students must know to succeed at the next level. While we have not yet started developing common formative assessments, this will be a focus as we continue refining our curriculum. Our ultimate goal is to provide timely support for any students needing additional help, with Title One, Special Education, and other support staff available to assist.

Four Essential Questions

  1. What do we want our students to learn?

  2. How will we know if they have learned?

  3. What will we do if they don’t learn?

  4. What will we do if they already know it?
