Glendive Public Schools in the process of recruiting teachers for the next school year. We need your help! The last couple of years have disrupted how teacher recruitment is done as many Job Fairs have been moved to a virtual platform. There is a teacher shortage across the country. This shortage has made it difficult for rural schools (like Glendive) to recruit and hire effective teachers. We know that when we work together, we will be able to build stronger schools and a stronger community. We know that when looking for candidates, we have a higher success rate when the candidate has ties to our community. We don't just want to recruit people, we want to recruit highly effective people that will be a great "fit" for our schools and community. This will ensure that they will stay here for years to come. If you know of a person that is going to graduate in education or someone who is already in education who would be a good "fit" for GPS and Glendive, please fill out the following survey. We will reach out to them. Thank you for taking the time to complete this quick (4 question survey). We look forward to getting this information to continue to build upon a great group of educators. https://forms.gle/mqznoNGvfkb6e3Z87

Reading was celebrated across the nation during the month of March. Here are some great ways to incorporate reading into the month of March and beyond. 1. Go Book Shopping. This can be done anywhere from local bookstores to Amazon or with a trip to the library. Ask friends, librarians, and teachers for some great book recommendations. 2. Get Comfortable. Designate a special spot in your house for reading. Fill it with pillows, blankets, and books. It doesn’t have to be big. 3. Set Aside Family Reading Time. It is a lot easier to get everyone reading if everyone is doing it together. Set aside a designated amount of time each night. This may include reading a book as a family or everyone reading on their own. 4. Celebrate With a Movie. As a family, you can choose a book that also has a movie. After you read the book together, you can all settle in and watch the movie together. You can even have a discussion about which one you thought was better and why.

HELP!! Glendive Public Schools is struggling yet again and in desperate need of substitute teachers, cooks and custodians. The last few days with staff shortages have left us with several positions unfilled. We have an amazing staff that has been working tirelessly to shift, adjust, and cover everything that we need to fill these vacant positions so that we can continue to operate our schools. We are asking for our community's help to fill this gap so we won’t have to cancel school for a lack of staffing. Again, we are in desperate need of help! Please consider applying to be a substitute in our district. You don’t have to be a licensed teacher, you just have to pass a background check and take a short online training course. You can choose which days you want to work and give a preference as to which school(s) you would like to work in and how many hours you want to work. What other job gives you those opportunities? To apply you can go to the District’s website at glendiveschools.com and click on employment opportunities on the top right corner. Or for more information please call Jackie Stinnett at the Superintendent’s Office at (406) 377-6102. The students of Glendive Public Schools need you now more than ever!!
