Reminder: Parent-Teacher Conferences are Tuesday, February 22 from 2 pm - 8 pm. Parent-Teacher Collaboration Tip 3: Teachers communicate through newsletters, class blogs, make phone calls, and send report cards. Parent-Teacher Collaboration Tip 4: Parents can attend parent/teacher conferences to make sure that parents, teachers and students are all on the same page.

Day 1: Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week (Tuesday, February 22). In the spirit of getting ready for Conferences, we will be posting some Parent/Teacher Collaboration tips. Parent Teacher Collaboration: Parents and teachers share the same goals for children and students; they want each individual to do their best. This happens best when parents and teachers work together. Parent-Teacher Collaboration Tip 1: Keeping lines of communication open between parents and teachers. Parent-Teacher Collaboration Tip 2: Parents help by setting aside time for schoolwork at home.

We want to keep our students healthy and in school. Here are some more quick tips to help students reduce the spread of germs at school. 1. Hands off Your Face – Teach students to keep hands away from their face, out of their nose and out of their mouths. If they accidentally touch these things, remind them to wash their hands right away. 2. Skip the Water Fountain – Send a water bottle with students each day so they can avoid the water fountain. If they need to use the water fountain, teach students how to drink without touching their mouth to the spigot. 3. Eat Fruits and Veggies – A healthy diet can help boost the immune system. 4. Get Enough Sleep – Sleep helps build the immune system. Follow these guidelines: *Ages 10-17: 8.5 to 9.5 hours per night *Ages 5-10: 10 to 11 hours per night *Ages 3-5: 11 to 13 hours per night 5. Stay Home From School when Sick – If a student is sick, they need to stay home until they are well again to avoid spreading illness to others.

Kids love to be close and share everything, even germs. Here are some quick tips to help students reduce the spread of germs at school. 1. Wash your Hands – Wash hands in warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds. Sing the alphabet song once to help with timing. 2. Don’t Share – Send extra supplies so students can use their own items rather than community items. 3. Cover Sneezes and Coughs – Sneeze into the crook of the elbow or into a tissue, not into hands. If a student accidentally sneezes into their hands, remind them to wash their hands right away.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Glendive Public Schools is struggling right now and in desperate need of substitute teachers, cooks and custodians. This past week we averaged 15 subs a day working in the buildings, with several positions left unfilled. We have an amazing staff that has been working tirelessly to shift, adjust, and cover everything that we need to fill these vacant positions so that we can continue to operate our schools. We are asking for our community's help to fill this gap so we won’t have to cancel school for a lack of staffing. Again, we are in desperate need of help! Please consider applying to be a substitute in our district. You don’t have to be a licensed teacher, you just have to pass a background check and take a short online training course. You can choose which days you want to work and give a preference as to which school(s) you would like to work in. Glendive Public Schools would like to make our community aware of a recent law, HB 279 that allows individuals and businesses to make direct contributions to our schools with a dollar for dollar state tax credit. This means that every dollar you donate to our district is a direct dollar credit for your state tax obligation for 2022. The state is placing a $1,000,000 cap on the total statewide contributions accepted. This means that districts will be competing to receive donations before the limit is reached. The window for these donations opens at midnight on Jan. 3rd. Many servicemen will never have the heartfelt appreciation I got from reading your note,” responded a veteran. Yesterday's day was Veterans Day. A day of such importance in our great country. I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the efforts of the community of Glendive as well as Glendive Public Schools. In partnership with the Veteran Letter Writing Campaign, over 2,000 veterans received letters of appreciation, kindness, and love from letter writers from the ages of 5-76. 1,025 individual veterans were written to across this great nation as well as throughout our world. 1,000 letters were written to individuals in veteran health facilities across the country. We have already received many responses from those who received our letters. As one veteran said, “I can’t tell you how touched I was to receive (your letters). So many times we forget to recognize the sacrifices that our forefathers made to give us the freedoms that we take for granted.” Well said, sir. Well said. Thank you to the Glendive community and Glendive Public Schools for their partnership with the Veteran Letter Writing Campaign. We can’t wait till next year, 5th annual campaign.
